Original magnification: x400. Pirfenidone decreased fibronectin over-expression induced by TGF-β1. Loss of epithelial marker E-cadherin mRNA in A549 cells caused by TGF-β1 (5 ng/ml) was also normalized by pirfenidone, but the difference did not reach significance (e).
