Table 1 Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria for Enrollment in INSPIRE Study

Inclusion criteria:

Exclusion criteria:

Singleton birth to a mother 18 years or older.

Need for mechanical ventilation prior to enrollment

Born at ≥ 37 weeks gestation

Significant cardiopulmonary disease

Birth weight ≥ 2250 g (5 lbs.)

Bronchopulmonary dysplasia

Born June 1 – December 31 during enrollment years: 2012, 2013

Cystic fibrosis

Guardian/parent able to understand and provide informed consent

Immunodeficiency (including maternal HIV)

No intent to relocate from Nashville and surrounding area within 5 years

Neurological disease

 

Any other health condition that may jeopardize the integrity of data to be collected during the study
