The percentages of patients with a normal pH (pH ≥ 7.35) after one hour, after 24 h, and at the time of discharge are shown for the patients with and without severe acidosis who presented with each of the three diseases studied (ACPE, COPD, and OHS) and for the total population. Data are presented for the total population and for the sub-groups with and without a DNI order. The P values indicate the significance of results obtained in comparisons of the percentages of patients with and without severe acidosis with a normal pH after one hour, after 24 h and at the time of RICU discharge.
