Representative tracings of peak velocity of the right hemidiaphragm during a sniff maneuver using tissue Doppler imaging in a healthy volunteer (left panel) and in a patient with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (right panel). The peak velocity in the healthy subject (12 cm/s) was nearly as twice as fast as the peak velocity in the patient Duchenne muscular dystrophy (7 cm/s).
