From: Exploring red cell distribution width as a biomarker for treatment efficacy in home mechanical ventilation

Fig. 3

Receiver operating characteristic curves against 50% reference lines for different potential treatment efficacy markers of home mechanical ventilation. Receiver operating characteristic curves were created using treatment time points as the reference standard (before treatment and at 6 months of treatment) and RDW and other traditionally used treatment efficacy markers (paCO2, HCO3, SRI-SS, SRI-RC and ESS values) as continuous predictors. Predictors were compared based on their ability to best discriminate between non-treated and treated patients based on their AUC values. ESS: Epworth Sleepiness Scale, HCO3: bicarbonate, paCO2: arterial partial pressure of carbon-dioxide, paO2: arterial partial pressure of oxygen, RDW: red cell distribution width, SRI-RC: Severe Respiratory Insufficiency Questionnaire Respiratory Complaints, SRI-SS: Severe Respiratory Insufficiency Questionnaire Summary Score
