  1. Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid was centrifuged (1,000 g) to remove cell components (Sup-1), and Sup-1 was centrifuged again (33,000 g) into a supernatant (Sup-2) and precipitate (Ppt). The percentage of fragmentation of SP-A, SP-D and phospholipids in each segment was examined. The data are presented as median (interquartile range). SP-A, surfactant protein A; SP-D, surfactant protein D.
