Nasal epithelial cells were grown on coverslips and treated with (A) PBS or (B) DNase I solution for the negative and positive control respectively. Separate samples were treated with (C) 50 μM acrolein for 4 h, (D) 50 μM nicotine for 24 h, (E) 50 μM acetylaldehyde for 24 h or (F) 5% CSE for 24 h. Levels of apoptosis were determined using the Click-iT reaction according to manufacturer’s instructions.Back to article page
