Muscarinic agonists increase the methyl-[ 3 H]thymidine incorporation in ASMCs. Involvement of PI3K and MAPK signalling pathways. Rabbit tracheal ASMCs were serum starved for 24 h and then incubated with ACh (10-7 M) or CCh (10-9 M) alone and in the presence of the PI3K pathway inhibitor LY294002 (20 μΜ) or the MAPK pathway inhibitor PD98059 (100 μΜ). Methyl-[3H]thymidine incorporation was measured after 48 h of incubation with the muscarinic agonist. **P < 0.01 compared with control. #P < 0.05 compared with the effect of muscarinic agonist alone on methyl-[3H]thymidine incorporation.
